Ms. Ying Wang received her bachelor’s degree from the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, receiving Excellent Performance Prize in the First National Cello Competition, second place in the Bach Competition, and multiple Excellent Student Recognition Award. Prior to her relocation to the United States, she has performed with Central Ballet Orchestra of China, Beijing Symphony Orchestra, Woman Philharmonic, and China Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Wang received a full scholarship and teaching assistantship from Illinois State University to pursue her master’s degree study under Greg Hamilton. During her study at ISU, Ms. Wang was also a full scholarship recipient of the prestigious National Orchestra Institute at University of Maryland at College Park, where she studied under Stephen Geber, the principal cellist of the Cleveland Orchestra,  and Ronald Leonard, the former principal cellist of Los Angeles Philharmonic. Aside from her appointment as a cello faculty at a community college, Ms. Wang was also invited as a guest cellist to teach a masterclass in Illinois Wesleyan University’s Cello Camp. 

Ms. Wang has performed as a member of various orchestras including Sinfonia da Camera, a chamber orchestra based in Champaign/Urbana with its performance heard frequently on the National Public Radio Performance Today; Illinois Symphony Orchestra; Illinois Valley Symphony Orchestra; Sugar Creek Symphony Orchestra; Millikin-Decatur Symphony Orchestra; United Musicians Symphony Orchestra of Los Angeles; Korean Philarmonic Orchestra of Los Angeles; and Asian American Philharmonic. 

Ms. Wang has taught extensively over the past 17 years, and her students have excelled in competitions and evaluation programs such as SYMF, MTAC’s Certificate of Merit, ABRSM, and Satori String Contest. With her extensive orchestral experience, she has guided her students through various orchestra auditions, winning positions in programs such as Junior Chamber Music, Prelude symphony Orchestra, Seraphim Symphony Orchestra, Irvine Classical Players Chamber Ochestra, Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestra, and Buddha’s Light Youth Symphony Orchestra. 

Aside from her appointment as cello faculty at Opus119, Ms. Wang is also a coach of Winter Music Camp of BLYSO and Junior Chamber Music.
