Mizuki Takagi
B.A., University of California - Los Angeles
M.M., Bob Cole Conservatory, California State University Long Beach

Japanese violinist Mizuki Takagi had her official soloist debut at the age of 15 performing the Bruch Concerto in G minor, and has since appeared as soloist with Peninsula Youth Symphony, Palo Alto Philharmonic, Bob Cole Symphony Chamber Orchestra in Germany and various other orchestras. The Mitteldeutsche Zeitung Newspaper featured one of her performances, calling her "...young, colorful and virtuosic."  She is also the winner of numerous competitions and has served as concertmaster for Peninsula Youth Orchestra and Bob Cole Conservatory Symphony.  She was given full scholarship to attend the prestigious Conservatoire Américain of the Ecoles d'Art Américaines in Fontainebleau in France and has performed all over Europe with orchestras.  She also served as guest faculty at Capriccio Music Festival. Outside of the classical world, she enjoys collaborating with other artists; she has recently recorded on Bryan Lanning's album "Us," which landed the #2 spot, above Bruno Mars's album, in the iTunes Pop Category in the U.S., and #6 overall.

Mizuki began her musical studies at the age of 5 in Michigan, and later moved to the Bay Area, where she studied music with renowned violin teacher Jenny Rudin. For undergraduate and graduate degrees, studied under Movses Pogossian, Guillaume Sutre, and Henry Gronnier. She is also a member of the American Youth Symphony and performs with Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra.

Her teaching philosophy is that everyone is born with music in them, and what you do with your talent is what matters; it is the job of the teacher to help guide the music that's innate to all of us.

Mizuki also enjoys photography in her free time to capture the beauty in life.  Her personal motto is, "Although it is important to reach your goals, enjoying the journey is a part of who you become- don't forget to stop and smell the roses."
