Biography
Phoebe is a 5th grade GATE student at Hicks Canyon Elementary School in Irvine. She began her music education at Yamaha Music Center when she was 5 but did not seriously practice piano until she joined Opus 119 under the direction of Ms. Jenny Shin around the age of 8.
Phoebe has been playing many different types of piano pieces from Baroque to contemporary era and has won numerous awards in both local and international piano competitions, including first place prizes in Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition, Southern California Junior Bach Festival, Cypress College Piano Competition, Glendale Piano Competition and SYMF Open.
Outside school and piano, Phoebe practices with Nova swim team on most weekdays and she also enjoys her weekend gymnastics and art class. She loves going to the movies and amusement parks as well as playing Wii with her sister and friends. Phoebe enjoys math, reading and spelling in school and wants to become a scientist when she grows up.

What kind of things you do that annoy your parents?
I often play air piano at the dinner table and I don’t eat my food.
Why do you like studying with Ms. Jenny?
She is very funny and always strict. I could always tell she is an ultra super teacher.
Do you play any other instruments?
Yes, I used to play the cello in my school orchestra. Right now, I’m playing the flute in the school band. I think it sounds a little “cooler”.
